It can be scary if your child is struggling
We are here to support both your child and your family.
Therapy for children
Many of the children that come to our office are struggling to “keep it all together”. This might look like struggling in school or constantly checking grades, fighting with siblings, constantly worrying, emotional or behavioral outbursts that come out of no where. Their parents have tired all the things they can think and more. At Kaleidoscope, we work with kids who need someone to see them for who they are and not try and change them, someone who can understand their interests and meet them where they are at. Your child’s therapist will work to build a warm, trusting, foundational relationship. Your child’s therapist engage your child in play and art, while talking to them about their interests and ask questions about what is going on. We strive to make therapy feel fun and accessible so that your child feels welcome to talk about the things that are bothering them. Our therapists also work with parents to give feedback, support with parenting and school needs, and developing skills that actually work.

What to expect
After receiving your interest form, we will match you with a therapist who’s focus areas, personality, and schedule meet your needs. They will reach out to you to schedule a 20 minute free consultation where they can get to know your needs more fully.
If you feel it is a good fit, your therapist will schedule an intake session. Intake sessions look different client to client, but most begin with both parents and child. You therapist may try to have time with just your child.
Your child’s therpaist will then schedule regular sessions with your child where they will work on goals, explore needs, and develop skills.
Your child’s therapist will reach out to you to schedule parent meetings generally every 4-6 sessions. In these meetings, your child’s therapist will go over what has been happening in therapy, tools to use at home and school, or reviewing resources. Your child’s therapist will ask you to be an active participant in therapy. Therapy doesn’t end in our office!
You are always welcome to reach out to your child’s therapist and schedule a meeting if you feel you need support.
Common Questions
Do I attend therapy with my child?
In the first session, part of the session be joint where both you and your child participate in therapy with the therapist. After the first session, most therapists will see children and teens individually. Your child’s therapist may occasionally do joint sessions if requested by you or your child.
What if my child doesn’t talk about concerns that I have?
Your child’s therapist will generally them direct what they discuss in therapy. Their therapy time is for them to discuss their concerns, not necessarily yours as a parent. We require that all guardians who have a child in therapy with meet with their child’s therapist on a monthly basis for check-in meetings. During these meetings, you are welcome to let your child’s therapist know the concerns you are seeing.
How will I know if therapy is working?
It can takes months for change to occur in therapy. Generally change by a child does not happen unless it is also accompanied by change at home and potentially at school. In parent meetings, your child’s therapist will work with you as a guardian to understand what you can do to support your child in therapy. Understand that progress can be slow and might look different that originally expected.
