At Kaleidoscope, we believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship starts with feeling like you are talking to a real person, not a blank slate. Our therapists live in the neurospicy world, just like our clients, which allows us to connect with folks on a deeper, more natural level.
We do not take a one size fits all approach. Our therapists go beyond using “evidence based” modalities (often develop for neurotypical individuals) and listen and learn from the communities we serve. Your therapist and will work with you to discover the therapeutic process that works for you and understands that therapy has to change as you change.
We never teach social skills and always work with our client’s to make sure therapy goals are both affirming and based on the client’s desire for change.

Common Questions
How will I know if therapy is working?
It can takes months for change to occur in therapy; everyone is different. And sometimes, client’s feel worse before they feel better. Generally client’s feel they have more awareness of their emotions, bodies, and triggers. It can be a slow process, but as you continue to do the work you will start to feel more present and grounded in your daily life. Most of all, you will feel like you are reaching your goals.
What do I talk about?
Short answer: anything you want! The longer answer is generally your therapist will talk with you about things you don’t want to talk about. Things buried deep or things you don’t understand.Your therapist will provide a space for those things to be heard and seen. We work with clients to figure out how to integrate all parts of themselves into their life story.
What if I don’t feel like therapy is working?
Tell your therapist! Each therapist is trained in several modalities. You can always try something new or explore what is feeling stuck. If you work for a while and you don’t feel like your therapist is a good fit, we will always help you find a therapist who is. Our commitment is to your care, regardless if we work with you or not.
